The patient was immunocompromised, with multiple health conditions, including hypertension and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, falling squarely into the category of people most at risk during the COVID-19 pandemic. Upon shortness of breath, fever, and cough, her husband immediately brought her to Bhagyanagar UPHC for treatment where she was tested, and the report was positive for COVID 19 with saturation as low as 70%. She was started on symptomatic and supportive treatment as per the guidelines. Due to lack of bed with ventilator support in the locality, our Medical Officer took the initiative and arranged oxygen at her doorsteps. Ward ANM and district health authorities, were updated about her condition to monitor saturation regularly. Additionally, moral support was provided to her by the Medical Officer through calls and counselling. After ten days of care, there was an improvement in her saturation levels with no clinical symptoms resulting in better health confirmed by the second test showing a negative result for Covid-19.
After recovery, she visited the UPHC with her husband to show her gratitude for the care provided by the Medical Officer and staff. As a token of appreciation, they donated 10 chairs & a table to UPHC for the welfare of patients. She thanked each staff of UPHC for the excellent work and services they are providing!
