Himachal Pradesh Project

The HP-THS programme is first of its kind health care service delivery innovation in India. The programme provides much needed emergency, specialty and super-specialty consultation services to locations at 14,931 feet above sea level in the Himalayan mountain range. Established initially as a proof of concept, technology enabled service delivery model, it is now a time tested programme. The programme has been rendering remote health care services, since 2 years and is being implemented by Apollo Tele Health Services (ATHS)

Information and Communication Technology powered Telemedicine solution was provided at two State Government hospitals in Kaza and Keylong, servicing a population of 34000 people. The programme allows patients to get remote video conference based consultations supported by online, real time, and remote peripheral diagnostics. This programme links Emergency & Specialty experts from Apollo hospitals with the Regional hospital in Keylong and Community Health Centres in Kaza using dedicated Satellite bandwidth connectivity. Preventive health care services like tele-cervical cancer screening under the supervision of obstetrician and gynaecologist from Apollo Hospitals are also being provided

Since its inception in the year 2015, more than 10,000 tele consultations have been provided till date and stabilization of close to 730 emergency cases through tele-emergency services. Many patients have been screened under tele-cervical cancer screening, and above 9000 lab tests provided through tele-laboratory services.

The objective of this Telemedicine programme is to create a conducive environment in remote and difficult to access areas, and to provide the required health care support system. This programme has reduced, difficult travel for patients to distant locations seeking health care, saving effort, time and money
